I always appreciate your writing about music. Thanks for taking the time to think and process all of this music

When you limit yourself to 10 albums you will always miss something. When you limit yourself to albums you miss something but we've had the albums vs. singles discussion before. Here is a list of "international" (not Canadian) tunes I've been playing and thinking about. Sometimes they really are singles and other times they come from albums worth having. Not commentary at this point, just a list:

King and Lionheart, Of Monsters and Men; I Will Wait, Mumford & Sons; Big Parade, The Lumineers; Heaven, The Walkmen; Animal Life, Shearwater; Rhiannon, Best Coast; Take a Walk, Passion Pit; Some Nights, fun.; Same Love (feat. Mary Lambert), Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; Guttersnipe, Bhi Bhiman; Let Her Go, Passenger;Somebody That I Used To Know, Gotye; Tessellate, Alt-J; Angels, The xx; All The Rowboats, Regina Spektor; Runaways, The Killers; We Take Care Of Our Own, Bruce Springsteen; Hold On, Alabama Shakes; Sixteen Saltines, Jack White

Thanks for your comments, Bob. I suppose we all have opinions on this troubling topic. I am not sure that our right to bear arms helped the situation at Sandy Point nor do I have the power to see all possible outcomes of what would happen if people chose to lay down their guns. I suppose I am hopeful. All I am advocating is a space for people - like yourself - who are uncomfortable with having a gun in their home to have a way of letting go of it. Some people never will and perhaps that is just way the way of things. But if there is someone in our community who wants a way to let go of their fear that is tied to gun ownership, can't the church at least offer a space to do that? Is that truly the dumbest idea - e notion of creating space for release for those who want it?

This is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever hears. I am not a gun owner and don't feel comfortable owning a gun. But this idea that people should turn their guns in is just plain stupid. Do you really think that criminals will turn their guns in? There is no way that they will. What this does is leave law abiding citizens (who will turn their guns in at your request) vulnerable to criminals. This idea leaves an open door for more situations like the one we saw in CT. A criminal can without fear walk into a mall, school or any other place knowing that there is no danger to him because all the idiotic citizens have turn their guns in. The fact is the states that have passes laws favoring concealed weapon carry permits have seen a decrease in crime by around 30%. Criminals have to think twice before committing a crime because you never know who has a weapon. If we all turn in our guns criminals have nothing to fear.
